Eritrean community members in Port Sudan city celebrated the 22nd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal.

Asmara, 31 May 2013 – Eritrean community members in Port Sudan city celebrated the 22nd Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal.

The event in which a number of Sudanese officials took part witnessed the staging of different activities, including a cultural show, according to reports.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ibrahim Idirs from the Eritrean Embassy in the Republic of Sudan, and Mr. Andemariam Gebremichael pointed out that the Eritrean community members have enhanced role in the nation-building process, in which the nation’s political path and popular participation have become vital prerequisites.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Administrator of Sudanese Red Sea region, Dr. Mohammed-Tahir Ela, said that Eritrea and the Republic of Sudan are engaged in mutual socio-economic activities that could foster relations of partnership.

Cultural performances by Bennifer Cultural Troupe added color to the celebration.
