The inhabitants of Adi-Abeto, Paradiso sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation activities on the basis of higher spirit of communal participation.
Asmara, 18 February 2014 – The inhabitants of Adi-Abeto, Paradiso sub-zone, are engaged in soil and water conservation activities on the basis of higher spirit of communal participation.
Mr.Bitsueamlak Asfaha, Administrator of Adi-Abeito, indicated that a total area of 20 hectares has been set for implementation of soil and water conservation program by experts from the Agriculture Ministry, and that the local inhabitants have been organized to finalize the undertaking. He further expressed the readiness of the inhabitants to sustain participation in the process.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Misgina Tesfai and Ms. Letekidan Habtetsion, said that active participation is being witnessing in the undertaking involving terracing and construction of water catchment walls towards raising agricultural output. They also pointed out that the community members are demonstrating impressive involvement in the communal task with a view to finalizing it before onset of the rainy season.
Likewise, Rev. Michael Markos and Ms. Letebirhan Andat, head of NUEW branch in the sub- zone, stated that soil and water conservation has a significant impact in raising soil fertility, and that there exist higher popular awareness to this end.
