Anseba region: Youths conduct tour in historical trenches in Halhal

Youths from nine sub-zones of Anseba region have conducted tour in historical trenches in Halhal where various heroic feats were witnessed by freedom fighters during the armed struggle for independence.

Keren, 02 July 2014 – Youths from nine sub-zones of Anseba region have conducted tour in historical trenches in Halhal where various heroic feats were witnessed by freedom fighters during the armed struggle for independence.

The participants of the tour were accorded briefings by Col. Jabera Hummed, as regards the challenging moments endured by freedom fighters in the trenches vis-à-vis the fighters resolve and the heroic feats demonstrated in the battle engagements.

Col. Jabera further called on the communities in the locality in general and the NUEYS in particular to sustain input towards popularization of national values and documentation of the history targeting future generations. He also called on the youths to step up participation in the nation-building process and safeguarding the nation’s dignity.

Mr. Kassim Ibrahim, head of political and organizational affairs in the NUEYS branch in the region, noted the vitality of the tour in light of bequeathing cultural and national values to the youth. The participants of the tour expressed satisfaction with the exposure and called for similar initiatives in the future.
