Fruits and Vegetables farmers in Aretai semi-urban center, Habero sub-zone, stated that they are exerting persistent effort to boost production through fully harnessing the available surface and groundwater resource in the locality.
Habero, 31 January 2015 –Fruits and Vegetables farmers in Aretai semi-urban center, Habero sub-zone, stated that they are exerting persistent effort to boost production through fully harnessing the available surface and groundwater resource in the locality.
They told Erina that the inhabitants are engaging in irrigation farming taking the advantage of Anseba River and called on the Agriculture Ministry to provide consultation service and the required fertilizer, besides urging the pertinent body to a make market place available.
Mr. Hamid Jabera, Administrator of the semi-urban centre, explained that the local inhabitants have acquired experience in irrigation farming and that over 45 farmers have grouped themselves in an association.
According to reports, the products of the farmers are being distributed to markets in Keren, Aretai and Filfile.
