National Association of the Blind Striving to Prevent Blindness and Ensure the Rights of Blind Persons

The Chairman of the Eritrean National Association of the Blind, Mr. Dawit Fissehaye, said that the Association is striving to prevent blindness and ensure the rights of blind persons in collaboration with partners. Asmara, 7 May 2010 – The Chairman of the Eritrean National Association of the Blind, Mr. Dawit Fissehaye, said that the Association is striving to prevent blindness and ensure the rights of blind persons in collaboration with partners.

Noting that raising people’s awareness regarding disabled citizens in general and the blind in particular is vital for achieving the set goal, he called on vision-impaired citizens to actively participate in educational opportunities through overcoming negative traditional attitudes towards blindness on the part of the general public. Mr. Dawit explained that the Association is providing various training courses towards upgrading the capacity of members.

The Eritrean National Association of the Blind, which is member of the African and World Association of Blind Persons, has offices in about 21 sub-zones.
