Members of the Northern Red Sea regional Assembly said that the commemoration of Operation Fenkil provides added strength to the steadfastness and work capability of the nation.

Massawa, 7 February 2011 – Members of the Northern Red Sea regional Assembly said that the commemoration of Operation Fenkil provides added strength to the steadfastness and work capability of the nation.

They told ERINA that Fenkil constituted a turning point in the bitter armed struggle for independence and that the impressive reconstruction and modernization accomplishments in Massawa port city fully attests to the major victories scored over the past 20 years on the basis of self-reliance principle.

The Assembly members further explained that such all-round development is an integral part of the Government’s endeavors to expand equitable social service across the country. In this connection, they indicated that the general public is taking active participation in the preparation of the commemorative event.
