Haikota sub-zone: Activities underway to ensure public health

Various activities are being carried out in Haikota sub-zone to ensure public health and reduce mortality rate, especially that of mother and child, according to Mr. Sultan Hagos, head of health center in the sub-zone.
Haikota, 7 February 2011 – Various activities are being carried out in Haikota sub-zone to ensure public health and reduce mortality rate, especially that of mother and child, according to Mr. Sultan Hagos, head of health center in the sub-zone.

He indicated that there are 3 health stations in the administrative areas of Alebu, Fiesko and Hademdemi, as well as a health center in Haikota semi-urban center. About 1,500 pregnant mothers made medical checkups and received vaccines in the center last year, Mr. Sultan added. 

Noting that 27,000 mosquito nets have been distributed to the public to prevent malaria infection, he explained that toilets have been built in Asfada, Adi-Haji, Hilet, Jedid and Adi-Hatsur so as to ensure public health. Mr. Sultan called on the inhabitants to enhance participation in maintaining environmental sanitation, and thus control the spread of malaria and other communicable diseases.
