New school built in Lekuyeb

A new school has been constructed in Lekuyeb, Kerkebet sub-zone at a cost of about 2.3 million Nakfa. It is equipped with 4 classrooms, office, staff room, store, restroom and a pond with the capacity of holding about 300 barrels of water.
Keren, 8 February 2011 – A new school has been constructed in Lekuyeb, Kerkebet sub-zone at a cost of about 2.3 million Nakfa. It is equipped with 4 classrooms, office, staff room, store, restroom and a pond with the capacity of holding about 300 barrels of water.

The supervisor of the project, Mr. Kibreab Belai, stated that the construction of the school was finalized at the set timetable thanks to the active participation of the people and available building materials.

The local inhabitants said that the newly built school would relieve their children from attending classes in uncomfortable makeshift facility, and commended the Government’s vigorous endeavors towards expanding educational opportunity in remote areas. They further explained that they have already become beneficiaries of various social services, including potable water supply, health and education service as they have regrouped in one community.

The head of infrastructure development in Anseba region, Mr. Gebru Haile, indicated on his part that the modern school would make due contribution in facilitating the teaching-learning process.
