Capacity being acquired for effective harnessing of marine resources, Says Minister

The Minister of Marine Resource, Mr. Tewolde Kelati, said that the necessary capacity is being acquired for the effective harnessing of marine resources thanks to the substantial investment being made in human resource development. He made the remarks in a speech he delivered during the graduation ceremony of 23 staff members of the Ministry who completed various training courses.

Massawa, 21 February 2011 – The Minister of Marine Resource, Mr. Tewolde Kelati, said that the necessary capacity is being acquired for the effective harnessing of marine resources thanks to the substantial investment being made in human resource development. He made the remarks in a speech he delivered during the graduation ceremony of 23 staff members of the Ministry who completed various training courses.

The Minister stressed the paramount importance of skilled manpower for the success of the endeavors being made in collaboration with partners towards harnessing marine resources for the benefit of the people and the nation.

Noting the significance of advanced equipments in boosting fish products both in terms of quality and quantity, Mr. Tewolde indicate that the Ministry is laying more emphasis in this regard. He also called on the trainees to make due contribution in the ongoing activities.

The training given to captains and assistants of big and small ships, as well as technicians of big and small fishing boats focused on the overall marine safety and handling of ships.
