Massawa, 12 February 2012 – During a seminar conducted in Massawa in connection with the commemoration of Operation Fenkil, it was underlined that reinforcing national cultural values is part and parcel of national resolute rebuff.
Highlighting the remarkable and historic struggle carried out to liberate Massawa from the yoke of colonization from 1977 and beyond, fighter Siyum Gebremariam indicated in his extensive deliberation at the seminar that the legacies of gallantry and patriotism witnessed in the course of the struggle should be transferred for posterity.
Noting that the people of Eritrea are genuinely peace loving people and were only compelled to raise up arms against the oppressors having been denied their right to existence as a country, fighter Siyum said that the struggle waged by the Eritrean people culminated in complete victory after a long and bitter struggle.
Pointing out that Operation Fenkil heralded not only the liberation of Massawa but the liberation of the entire country, and that the EPLF with the joined forces of the determined people of Eritrea continued to achieve victory after victory in every ordeal, fighter Siyum said that it is the responsibility of each and every citizen, especially the youth, to document the legacies and successfully transfer it to future generations.
