Lower instance of crime attests to upholding of cultural values, Says Office of Police Force in Southern Red Sea region

The office of Police Force in the Southern Red Sea region said that lower instance of crime in the region attests to the upholding of cultural values. Assab, 05 April 2013 – The office of Police Force in the Southern Red Sea region said that lower instance of crime in the region attests to the upholding of cultural values. It made the remark at meetings conducted with the inhabitants of Tio, Eddi, Afambo, Beilul and Alalie villages and semi-urban centers.

Maj. Medhanie Andemariam, head of crime prevention in the region, gave briefings as regards the trend of crime instances in the region last year, and called for the enhancement of parental role in bequeathing such values vis-à-vis sustained collaboration with the Police. Furthermore, he explained that a number of seminars were conducted with a view to raising community awareness regarding law.

The participants of the meeting on their part called on the Police to sustain seminars targeting students, and voiced readiness to collaborate with it.

Meanwhile, the office of Police Force in Debarwa sub-zone called on parents to enhance role to this end. It made the call at a meeting conducted with students in Adi-Felesti village, during which an in-depth briefing was given as regards the role of students in promoting security, societal values and the role of the Police.

Maj. Kiflemariam Gebrekristos, commander of the police station in Debarwa town, noted that lack of awareness regarding law does not absolve individuals from charge, and called on the participants to abide by ethics and cultural norms.
