The Association of Fruits and Vegetables Farmers in Segeneiti sub-zone has organized  training course for 50 members as regards horticulture.

Segeneiti, 29 April 2013 – The Association of Fruits and Vegetables Farmers in Segeneiti sub-zone has organized  training course for 50 members as regards horticulture.

Mr. Tesfom Tewolde, resource person, explained that ensuring diversity of varieties is vital in ensuring raised output, besides its merit in avoiding diseases and pests. He further called on farmers to apply proper crop rotation and land preparation techniques, and said that they should utilize healthy seeds and appropriate pesticides.

Likewise, Mr. Mesfin Kidane, Animal Husbandry expert in the locality, advised livestock farmers to reserve further land plots for green feed farming and keep breeds giving higher milk quantity.

Among the farmers, Teame Gebresilasie and  Tegbaru Tesfagebriel expressed satisfaction with the training, and indicated that they are striving to attain higher efficiency through adhering to scientific mode of farming.
