Southern region: Administrator calls for enhanced popular participation regarding soil and water conservation

The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, has called for enhanced organization in the ongoing pervasive popular undertakings as regards soil and water conservation.

Mendefera, 12 June 2013 – The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, has called for enhanced organization in the ongoing pervasive popular undertakings as regards soil and water conservation. He made the call at the respective meetings he conducted with the inhabitants of Tserona and Mai-Aini sub-zones.

Mr. Efrem said that the Government has been exerting stepped-up efforts towards ensuring social justice on the basis of working with priority to rural development, and that gratifying accomplishment has been registered to this end. He further called on the inhabitants of the two sub-zones to extend a helping hand in endeavors focusing on prevention of deforestation and doing away with child marriage, as well as other harmful cultural practices.

The participants put forth views regarding several issues.
