A youth program was conducted on February 11 and 12 in the port city of Massawa in connection with the Silver Jubilee Commemoration of Operation Fenkil aimed at bequeathing the heroic feats that have been demonstrated by the young Eritrean liberation fighters during the Operation to the youth.
Massawa, 12 February 2015- A youth program was conducted on February 11 and 12 in the port city of Massawa in connection with the Silver Jubilee Commemoration of Operation Fenkil aimed at bequeathing the heroic feats that have been demonstrated by the young Eritrean liberation fighters during the Operation to the youth.
In a speech he delivered on the occasion in which students from different schools and College of Science and Technology took part, Col. Isak Gebru said that the battle to liberate Massawa between the strategic withdrawal and 1990 has been very fierce, and that the experience gained in 1977 significantly contributed in rooting out the enemy forces from the port city of Massawa and its environs.
He went on to state that battle is the bitter test in life stressed that the liberation fighters took death to martyrdom and injury to decoration, and that Operation Fenkil has been the result of such exemplary dedication and steadfastness by the freedom fighters.
Mr. Haile Tewoldebrhan, Secretary of the PFDJ in the region, said that the history of the Popular Front is the history of the Eritrean people, and called on the youth to inherit and preserve the astounding history.
The participants on their part called for the sustainability of the program so that every Eritrean youth understands and preserves the astound history that has been demonstrated by the liberation fighter.
